Raoudha Bouzouita Mellakh, founder of Lik'Art

An artist and designer by training, Raoudha Bouzouita Mellakh has always explored different forms of creative expression. From painting to ceramics, her journey is guided by curiosity, a desire to learn and the pleasure of passing things on. This ongoing quest led her to imagine Lik’Art, the arts centre in El Menzah 5, Tunis: a place where everyone can discover, develop and share their own creativity.

From product design to oil painting

A product-design graduate of ITAAUT (the Institute of Technology in Art, Architecture and Urbanism of Tunis), she first worked as a designer before devoting many years to painting, and more particularly to oil painting. Even when she stepped away from this practice, she never stopped creating: painting on different media, dreamcatchers, small paintings for children… every new technique is, for her, an opportunity to explore new materials and enrich her artistic world.

2022: the encounter with ceramics

In 2022 she discovered ceramics, which quickly became a true passion. What fascinates her is as much the contact with clay as the almost infinite richness of the discipline. The many techniques, the possibilities offered by glazes and the surprises of firing open an ever-renewed field of experimentation, where each attempt can reveal unexpected colours, textures and effects.

Beyond the practice itself, Raoudha loves understanding how the material reacts. Every new glaze, every firing and every experiment is an opportunity to observe, search, test and deepen her knowledge. Convinced that ceramics is a field where you keep learning all your life, she continually pursues her research on glazes, materials and firing techniques.

From an observation to the birth of Lik’Art

While looking for a place to pursue her practice, she became aware of a gap: in Tunisia, there are few spaces where you can work freely, access the necessary materials, use a kiln or simply exchange with other enthusiasts.

Her training as a designer taught her to start from real needs to imagine suitable solutions. Faced with this observation, she naturally designed the place she would have loved to find herself: a welcoming, equipped and flexible space, made for people with very different profiles, wishes and levels.

This is how the idea of Lik’Art was born. More than an arts centre, she imagined a versatile place where you can learn, create, experiment and share your passion in a warm environment. The Co-Art Space lets independent creators work in an equipped studio, while the space can also turn into an exhibition gallery to accompany artists all the way to presenting and, when the opportunity arises, selling their work.

Creativity is not reserved for professional artists

For Raoudha, creativity is not reserved for professional artists. What matters is not seeking perfection, but daring to try, progressing and gaining confidence in your own abilities. It is often by taking action that you discover both your taste for a discipline and, sometimes, a talent you never knew you had.

Lik’Art is a project in constant evolution, carried by a single wish: making creation a space of discovery, sharing and fulfilment.

More than a studio, Lik’Art is the fruit of a journey, a passion and a deep conviction: creativity is meant to be lived, shared and accessible to everyone.
